Dr. Hilda Rosemarie Husbands-Mathurin is a Science educator who has co-authored primary school science text and activity books and has published several articles on educational issues.

Dr, Mathurin has delivered papers on gender and other issues in various forum regionally and internationally.

She was the first female elected to the post of President of the Senate in the Parliament of Saint Lucia and later appointed as Speaker of the House of Assembly.  She served in the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) as Head of the Commission Services and was commissioned to establish the OECS Assembly among the nine member states.

She served for many years as President of the Saint Lucia Archaeological and Historical Society and continues to serve on several boards and organisations in the Church and the private sector.
