Dr. Mark Guishard is the Director of Corporate and Community Relations at the Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences (BIOS). Since 2013 he has led the Risk Prediction Initiative at BIOS, a research collaboration with the reinsurance industry and academic partners, focused on questions around natural catastrophe risk.

 Mark is a Chartered Meteorologist with over 20 years’ experience in science, including operational forecasting, research meteorology, catastrophe risk analysis, and his previous role as Director of the Bermuda Weather Service. He has served on numerous local, regional and intergovernmental committees focused on warning & mitigation of natural hazards. 

He holds a PhD in Meteorology from Penn State University, an MSc in Atmospheric Sciences from the University of East Anglia, and has trained at the UK Met Office and the US National Hurricane Center. He is a Fellow of the Royal Meteorological Society.
