Venous Memari is Managing Director and a founding member of the Centre for Justice and sits on the Executive Committee. A member of the Bar of England and Wales, the Bermuda Bar and the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court (British Virgin Islands division), she taught criminal law at the University of Kent in England, and continues to teach for Kent Law School at Bermuda College. She practiced public law, civil and commercial litigation, and mediation at Mello Jones & Martin. During that period she co-founded the Collaborative Law Alliance of Bermuda, serving as Vice President for three years. Venous was Chairperson of the Appointment Committee of the Media Council of Bermuda for three years and served as Chairperson of the Human Rights Commission for three years, 2007-2009. She has a BA from the University of Maryland, an MEd from Indiana University and an LLB with Honours, and MPhil in Law from the University of Kent.
